To achieve the perfect color in their White Merlot, Beringer's winemaking team gently destems and presses the Merlot grapes, leaving the red skins in contact with the juice for approximately three hours. As soon as the desired soft, red-purple hue is achieved, the juice is removed. Slow, cool fermentations follow to retain the bright acidity, fresh melon and citrus flavors. The resulting wine is a vibrant blend of fresh berry and zesty orange peel flavors, with a hint of nutmeg spice. - Winery
Fine for this price, a fruity, somewhat tannic wine thatrsquo;s dry and balanced and pretty rich. A little bit of Petite Syrah and Zinfandel add darker plum, roasted coffee and chocolate layers to Merlotrsquo;s cherries and blackberries. Smooth enough to drink with fine meats and cheeses.
Nice for the price. Therersquo;s some juicy fruit along with greener, thinner notes, but well-structured, with the velvety tannins of far more expensive wines. Dry, but soft. A good everyday wine.
Earth, wild berry, tar and black currant flavors are supple and round, with harmonious toasty oak and herbal tones. Drink now through 2005.
The Beringer Founders' Estate Merlot is approachable and delicious. Hints of plum and brown spice on the nose compliment the boysenberry, blackberry and blueberry finish on the palate. The structureof this wine is perfectly balanced, and its weight and volume on the palate make this wine eminently drinkable.
