From one of the propertyandrsquo;s coolest sites, the 2007 Pinot Noir Ryan Vineyard reveals nearly overwhelming notes of sassafras, root vegetables, plums, red currants, and raspberries. It is a spicy, earthy effort with an autumnal-like herbaceousness. Aged 17 months in French oak (30% new), it is a Pinot Noir for those who prefer that varietalandrsquo;s spicy, stemmy, earthy side. Nevertheless, there is still plenty of fruit in this complex, singular cuvandeacute;e.

The color is a dark mahogany red with a fuchsia rim. After time in the glass, the nose begins to reveal a beautiful perfume of crushed berries, brambly spice and loamy soil, with a streak of minerality. The palate has a graceful entry of red and bla... Bright red. A sexy, highly perfumed bouquet displays fresh red berries, potpourri and sandalwood, with hints of allspice and anise adding complexity. Spicy and gently sweet in the mouth, offering lively strawberry and raspberry flavors and intense herb and floral qualities. Dusty tannins add grip and shape to along, sappy and subtly smoky finish.

Deep, juicy black plum bouquet beautifully integrated with the signature Mt Harlan minerality. It expresses very nice balance, excellent structure, good grip and a graceful mouth-feel combined with deep flavors of currant, raspberry and dark spice. It’s an alluring wine, quite delicious now, and has a long life ahead.
