Dark ruby core with a light rim. Expressive aromas of Bing cherry and raspberry with a touch of wildflowers on a bright, fresh nose. Soft and lush, with vibrant, well-balanced acidity, the red fruit on the palate is matched nicely with notes of cola ... Alex Shaw. De Villiers is one of Calera’s newest vineyards, and whether it’s a warmer site or simply comprised of showier clones, it’s forward in raspberry and cherry jam flavors, with lots of sweet, caramelized oak. The finish is long and sweet in fruit, and the alcohol is well below 14% by volume.

A deep, masculine effort that spent 16 months in 30% new French oak, the 2010 Pinot Noir de Villiers Vineyard dishes out serious amounts of earthy black fruits, wild strawberries, sappy underbrush and floral qualities on the nose. This is followed up by a medium to full-bodied, supple and gorgeously textured effort that has no hard edges and blockbuster length. It has a core of sweet fruit and is certainly enjoyable now, yet it should age effortlessly for 10–12. Drink now–2016.

A perfumed and very pretty nose features notes of ripe and spicy dark pinot fruit and black cherry aromas. There is a supple and very round mouth feel to the delicious middle weight flavors that terminate in a clean dry and ever-so-mildly austere finish. This will need a few years of cellar time to harmonize but it should be lovely in time. 2017+ Burghound.

Bright red. Spice-accented aromas of raspberry and fresh rose with deeper cherry pit and earth notes in the background. Gently sweet red fruit flavors are given spine by juicy acidity and complicated by notes of candied flowers and orange zest. Smooth and smoky on the finish featuring supple tannins and an exotic blood orange quality. Stephen Tanzers IWC.
