I had this as part of a Cakebread food and wine tasting event. Gratis! Reminds me of a crisp white bordeaux with hints of minerality. Smooth with fresh acidity, this has notes of green apple, honeydew, grapefruit. The pairing was with salmon, pine nuts, capers, red onions and pesto on foccacia which was great except for the red onion. Brought out the freshness and minerality of the wine. A tight, citrusy sauvignon, this opens to tart yellow cherry flavors as the fruit lengthens into the finish. It has a floral note of wildflower honey that recalls the sunniness of Napa Valley. Clean and refreshing.

Refreshing lime, apple and pear flavors are delicate and light, with plenty of acidity to keep the flavors fresh. Drink now.

The Cakebread winery was started in 1973 by Jack Cakebread and their Sauvignon Blanc is one of their benchmark wines. Bright grapefruit, lime, and melon aromas lead to flavors of green apple, with a hint of minerals on the finish. This wine is a thirst-quencher.

With bright, zesty acidity, this Sauvignon Blanc is clean and vibrant in orange, pineapple, lime and gooseberry flavors. If only it finished drier, it would be superb.
