The grapes for our 2006 Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc came primarily from our estate vineyards in Rutherford, as well as from outstanding vineyards in St. Helena and Calistoga. These sites provide superb fruit of great character, enabling us to produce a crisp, full-bodied, complex Sauvignon Blanc. We further enhance the wine’s complexity by blending in small amounts of Sauvignon Musqué, which contributes lovely floral aromas, and Sémillon, which enriches the mid-palate, softens the wine’s acidity and adds a pleasing citrus tone.

- A small amount of Semillon (8%) was added to the blend in order to give the finished wine a more mineral-like flavor and texture, while also contributing a ripe fig-like component to the wine. Finally, we blended even a smaller amount of Sauvignon Musqué (5%). The Musqué, which is a clone or offshoot of Sauvignon Blanc, adds a bit of spiciness to the wine.

- The Cakebread winery was started in 1973 by Jack Cakebread and their Sauvignon Blanc is one of their benchmark wines. Bright grapefruit, lime, and melon aromas lead to flavors of green apple, with a warm toastiness on the finish. This wine is a thirst-quencher.
