Winemaker's Notes - We night-harvest and whole-cluster-press our Napa Valley Chardonnay grapes to fully capture their intense varietal flavors and fresh acidity, attributes magnified by the cool 2010 growing season. Barrel fermenting the vast majority of the juice and aging the wine for eight months in one-third new French oak barrels, with periodic stirring of the yeast lees to enhance texture and complexity, yields a rich, mouthfilling Chardonnay with yeasty, sweet green apple and straw scents; pure, ripe apple, melon and citrus flavors; and a long, refreshingly crisp finish.

Clean and refreshing, snappy and vibrant, with zesty citrus, fresh quince and green apple notes. Drink now through 2012.

Serves up an appealing mix of earthy citrus, ripe pear and green apple flavors that are well-focused and unobstructed by oak. Finishes with a rich, clean aftertaste. Drink now through 2009.

Jack Cakebread came to Napa for the first time 30 years ago to photograph, and subsequently fell in love with the region and the wine, and began making his wine.
