Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

I had this as part of a Cakebread tasting with food pairing that I won! This was a wonderful chardonnay. It was toasty and smells like fresh butter. Lightly oaked, it was silky creamy smooth although it had a slightly bitter end. The sad part is that the food pairing of mango salsa salad was not that good. The red onion a little over powering and the tomatoes was too much acid that cut the smoothness. Otherwise, mango was a great idea! Rich and oaky, with pineapple jam, tangerine juice, buttered toast and vanilla spice flavors. Itandrsquo;s a big, opulent wine, but a little in your face. Drink now.

Yields a rich, mouth filling Chardonnay with yeasty, sweet green apple and straw scents; pure, ripe apple, melon and citrus flavors; and a long, refreshingly crisp finish.

On the full-bodied, yet sleek palate, the wine offers concentrated, beautifully focused, peach, apple and citrus zest flavors, with mineral and spice tones enlivening the long, refreshing finish.

Perfumed aromas of ripe pear and white peach lead to a grainy youthful edge. This is most impressive where it should be. The finish unveils delicate fruit notes. Drink now through 2019. -JL Wine Spectator. A Chardonnay wine from California in USA. 2010 Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay 750ml

Winemaker's Notes:

Creamy, yeasty, butterscotch-y aromas that quickly reveal ripe peach and yellow apple fruit scents layered with nutmeg and cinnamon spice notes. Full-bodied, round and extremely rich and creamy on the palate, the wine marries lush apple, peach and crème brulee flavors with refreshing mineral tones, culminating in a long, lively finish buoyed by bright acidity and a hint of citrus zest. Beautifully structured, this should age beautifully in bottle for another 5-7 years.
