User Reviews for Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay Carneros Reserve
Add your reviewThis is as superb a wine as a Chardonnay can be with aromas of clarified butter and sharp citrus. The okay bouquet is not as pungent as normal oaked Chardonnays, which makes this wine all the more intriguing. On the palate there is a fullness to this wine, which gives it a creamy texture without being too heavy. Deliciously intensive with sweet fruits of ripe apple and nectarine. This Chardonnay is heady decadence and absolutely my type of chardonnay with a long, lingering finish that adds a distinct dryness to the tongue and makes you want more.
This is one of my favorites. Very sweet finish that lingers on the pallet. Sweeter the more you drink.
Oakey nose, rustic and creamy. Great Carneros style chardonnay, rich, creamy and complex. - Tasted at Hostile Grape 3/10/10
Oak and apples on the nose. Crisp, starchy fruits. Nice acidity. - Tasted at Hostile Grape 8/5/09
I rarely drink white wine, but Cakebread does a really good job with this Chardonnay. It is bold enough for a red wine drinker to enjoy, especially when it's hot outside. I love this wine paired with grilled fish or spicy cajun seafood dishes.

A Chardonnay wine from California in USA. 2009 Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay Reserve 750ml
Boasts vivid, beautifully delineated sweet apple, melon and citrus aromas with hints of ginger and white peach layered with toasty, creamy tones from barrel fermentation and sur lie aging. On the round, streamlined palate, bright, creamy, apple, melon, pear, lemon-lime and mineral flavors gain additional richness from judicious toasty oak and yeast tones that prolong a lingering, gingery finish lifted by a refreshing minerality.
Smooth and creamy, with lots of spice, hazelnut, nutmeg and subtle green pear and apple notes. Medium- to full-bodied, clean and refreshing, even delicate on the finish. Drink now through 2016. -JL Wine Spectator. A Chardonnay wine from California in USA. 2008 Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay Reserve 750ml

Cakebread Chardonnay Cellars Reserve 2006 750ml Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay Reserve 2006, Carneros, Napa Valley initially showcases vibrant Granny Smith apple and spiced pear aromas, with undertones of melon and citrus. With airing, a pronounced creamy tone emerges, along with enticing scents of warm baking spices and toasty, spicy French oak. On the palate, a rich, creamy texture introduces concentrated, beautifully structured apple and melon flavors augmented by luscious butterscotch and savory, toasty oak tones, leading to a long, multi-faceted finish featuring subtle baked bread, mineral and citrus notes. More delicious and more fruity to drink now, this luxurious, complex, finely structured Chardonnay will gain additional richness and complexity with another 5-8 years of bottle age.
Winemaker's Notes:
Our 2009 Napa Valley Reserve Chardonnay delights the olfactory sense with beautifully ripe golden apple, citrus and tropical fruit aromas, complemented by seductive scents of buttercream, yeast and mineral. On the palate, the wine is wonderfully lush and mouthfilling, with rich, creamy, spiced apple, peach and melon flavors; yet, it is also wonderfully fresh, focused and balanced, reflecting the cool 2009 vintage. With deeply concentrated fruit and vibrant acidity, this luxurious Napa Valley Chardonnay will age beautifully in bottle for another 5-7 years.
