Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay Carneros Reserve 2006
Wine Spectator Review Rated 91 Ripe and richly flavored, with a mix of tropical fruit, apple, pear and spice. There's still a tight, fine structure, ending with a subtle kiss of toasty oak. Drink now through 2013. Wine Tasting Notes This distinctive Reserve Chardonnay is light gold in color with a rich aromatic complexity suggestive of baked apple, vanilla spice and lemon with a hint of oak. On the palate, flavors of white peaches and ripe tropical melon are supported by a lively and engaging interplay of fruit acids. The finish is long and satisfying, accented by notes of vanilla.

Great chardonnay. Even better on an expense account.
Oakey nose, rustic and creamy. Great Carneros style chardonnay, rich, creamy and complex. - Tasted at Hostile Grape 3/10/10
Oak and apples on the nose. Crisp, starchy fruits. Nice acidity. - Tasted at Hostile Grape 8/5/09
I rarely drink white wine, but Cakebread does a really good job with this Chardonnay. It is bold enough for a red wine drinker to enjoy, especially when it's hot outside. I love this wine paired with grilled fish or spicy cajun seafood dishes.
Cakebread Cellars chardonnays are always a favorite. i will stock up on them every chance i get.
could sit a few more years. really mellow
Truly in the top echelon of California Chardonnays, the 2006 Cakebread has an extremely crisp taste and fantastic finish. I prefer it chilled to about 45-46 degrees.

Jack Cakebread came to Napa for the first time 30 years ago to photograph, and subsequently fell in love with the region and the wine, and began making wines of his wine. His chardonnay is made to age. Granny smith apple aromas, and strong minerality and smokiness on the palate, drink this now, or hold for 3-5 years for a delightful experience.
