This was part of a Cakebread tasting with food pairing. This was a wonderful wine with an intense note. This smells young with good hints of spice, plum, cantaloupe, fresh jam and earthiness. Plush and juicy, this full bodied layered wine had flavorful notes of boysenberry, dark berries with soft tannins along with some wood. Great balance with smooth finish. It is no wonder they are known for their Cabs. Delicious pairing with Tri-tip and mashed potatoes which was like yin and yang of fat and tannins. At $61 per bottle at Cakebread, this wine is worth it. Smokey, light start and bold finish.

91 points. The nose on this wine is lush and spicy. I get lots of peppered black currant preserves, a bit of concord jam, some pretty intense rose wood, and a nice touch of something floral. There is some dark stone, some very light vanilla cream, and just a touch of butter as well. This wine opens very sweet, ripe, and rich with tons of creamy, almost jammy, blackberry and black currant tones. I then pick up on a bit of dried fruit, some coffee and cacao powder, and some fragrant wood aromas. The finish ends on just a hint of forest floor and menthol. This is a really rich, lush, smooth, and complex wine. It has exceptional balance of really intense fruit and firm, gripping tannins, and it feels very refined and elegant. Clearly well made, and definitely an example of Napa Cabernet done right. I think the price is a little steep at just shy of $70, and I could see buying this wine at $50-55, but if you are looking for an elegant, nicely structured Napa Cabernet that you don’t mind paying a little more for, this could be a wine worth trying. Pleasant nose with mixed fruit. On the palate some cherry tones and some dark fruits with a touch of oak. Very refined and nicely structured. A wonderful finish. I think this wine can go with or without food.

Spicy and cedar-like aromas of cassis and dark berries. On the palate, cassis and a hint of chocolate.

Creamy vanilla-tinged oak cloaks dried currant and berry fruit, graphite and crushed rock, firming nicely on the finish. A true to form Cakebread Cabernet. Drink now through 2024. -JL Wine Spectator. Fragrant boysenberry, blackberry, dark cherry, cassis and Mission fig aromas comprise the fresh, fruitful nose of the 2009 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The first sip of the wine reveals a big, boldly structured Cabernet with deeply concentrated black fruit flavors and intriguing dusty, loamy and mineral-y tones that add wonderful dimension and complexity. Boasting an undercurrent of soft, plush fruit that will emerge further with aging, this sophisticated, yet approachable Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon will reward another 5-7 years' cellaring.

Oak dominates this wine, with toasty charcoal aromas and flavors. The underlying wine seems pretty simple, with blackberry fruit flavors. Doesn't seem capable of aging, so drink up. - S.H. Juicy mulberry flavors focus this cabernet on fruit. Itrsquo;s laden with that dark berry flavor, finishing clean with a dusting of tannin that doesnrsquo;t get in the way of the fruit. A straight forward, satisfying choice at a steakhouse, this may gain some complexity over the next few years.

The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is among the finest ldquo;regularrdquo; Cabernet Sauvignons I have tasted from Cakebread. It exhibits a dense ruby/purple color, stunning purity, subtle notes of smoke, black currants, blackberries, spring flowers and toast, good acidity and ripe tannins. This full-bodied yet graceful, deep, silky Cabernet Sauvignon is already irresistible, but it will provide provocative and complex drinking for 15ndash;20 years. This benchmark winery has again turned out some impressive wines.
