Cakebread Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2006
Fresh, deeply concentrated aromas of blackcurrant, dark cherry and wild blackberry fruit, with whiffs of cocoa, earth and mineral adding dimension. On the palate, the wine's focused blackberry, cassis, cherry, plum and dark chocolate flavors persist and expand throughout a long, fruitful finish, with mineral tones adding length and refreshment. A big structured wine, with full firm tannins, bright acidity and a core of intense fruit, this exceptional Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon will profit from up to a decade of bottle aging.

At $61 per bottle at Cakebread, this wine is worth it. Smokey, light start and bold finish.
Pleasant nose with mixed fruit. On the palate some cherry tones and some dark fruits with a touch of oak. Very refined and nicely structured. A wonderful finish. I think this wine can go with or without food.
91 points. The nose on this wine is lush and spicy. I get lots of peppered black currant preserves, a bit of concord jam, some pretty intense rose wood, and a nice touch of something floral. There is some dark stone, some very light vanilla cream, and just a touch of butter as well. This wine opens very sweet, ripe, and rich with tons of creamy, almost jammy, blackberry and black currant tones. I then pick up on a bit of dried fruit, some coffee and cacao powder, and some fragrant wood aromas. The finish ends on just a hint of forest floor and menthol. This is a really rich, lush, smooth, and complex wine. It has exceptional balance of really intense fruit and firm, gripping tannins, and it feels very refined and elegant. Clearly well made, and definitely an example of Napa Cabernet done right. I think the price is a little steep at just shy of $70, and I could see buying this wine at $50-55, but if you are looking for an elegant, nicely structured Napa Cabernet that you don’t mind paying a little more for, this could be a wine worth trying. this was good, but not as good as other Cakebread wines i've enjoyed before.
Very elegant cab. Lots of fruit but balanced with some smoke and spice. Definitely worthy of pairing with a top notch steak
Love it....Love it.

Cakebread Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon 2006. After crushing and cold-soaking the grapes for 24-36 hours to enhance extraction, the juice from each vineyard lot was fermented separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, at warm temperatures, to fully extract color and flavor. Fermentation completed in approximately seven days, but the wines macerated on the skins for an additional three weeks to maximize color and flavor extraction and enhance tannins. The free run juice from each lot was then drained and transferred to French oak barrels, 35% new, for aging. In Spring, 2006, the lots chosen for our Napa Valley California, bottling were blended and subsequently aged an additional 14 months in barrel before bottling in July, 2007. This wine is good to drink at any time.
Our Cabernet Sauvignon boasts a fascinating melange of aromas, including ripe black fig, blackberry, cassis, caramel, and mocha. On the richly textured palate, the wine's intense black fruit flavors take on brambly spice, roasted coffee and dark chocolate tones, leading to a long, savory finish. Firmly structured and packed with layers of luxurious flavor, this lavishly endowed Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a treat now with grilled red meats and other hearty dishes, but will develop beautifully in the bottle for another 5-7 years
