Member Review by leo edmonds:

We had been members of the cakebread club for 4 yrs but had to quit. BUT we had stored several bottles of this and we drank it for thanksgiving 2011. It was a big hit with our guests. Great with turkey which was a pleasant surprise

Dancing Bear Ranch on Howell Mountain in eastern Napa Valley, perched at an elevation between 1800 and 2200 feet, is named for the omnivorous black bear who likes to feast on our mountain grapes as they approach ripeness. Fortunately, as the bear dances down the vine rows munching grape clusters, he leaves enough behind for us to craft this classic Napa Valley mountain red. A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc aged 22 months in French oak barrels. Robert Parker scored it 91+ points saying "The dense purple-colored 2007 Dancing Bear Ranch Proprietary Red (80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc) reveals more chocolate fudge and coffee notes. It does not have the nuances or complexity of the Benchland Select or the sheer joy of the Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, but there is a lot going on in this cuvee. Slightly monolithic, it is well-endowed, rich and full, so my rating may be slightly conservative." Very Limited!

Fortunately, as the bear dances down the vine rows munching grape clusters, he leaves enough behind for us to craft this classic Napa Valley mountain red is a Bordeaux-style blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc aged 22 months if French oak barrels, 45% new. This wonderfully rich, complex mountain Cabernet Sauvignon will handsomely repay long-term cellaring.
