lots of pepper... fantastic wine.
This wine is moderate in color. The nose is wondering - not bold, not weak. The nose is spicy and warm, with lots of warm wood notes coming through. The initial taste is heavily fermented, yet not intoxicating. The mouth feel is almost non-existent and has a little bite. The follow through is quick and refreshing. This is a good wine for Chilean cuisine or for a spicy cheese tray and dark chocolates. This is a little bolder than the Cain Cuvee of the same vintage, but they have very similar overtones and senses.
Great CA meritage, with lush fruit, cocoa, leather and smooth tannins. But this wine (the C4) was in the $30 range, and nothing from Cain is under $10.....

Cain Concept-The Benchland This wine is vinified and aged exactly like the Cain Five, but the core of our Cain Concept-The Benchland is Cabernet Sauvignon grown on the classical "benchlands" that have defined the greatness of the Napa Valley for more than 100 years. Naturally, in the "Cain Way," we blend in the sister varieties to build complexity, to add nuance, to articulate the structure, and to draw the wine to a satisfying close.
A Proprietary Blend wine from California in USA. 2004 Cain Cellars Concept 750ml
In Concept, we emphasize the lush fruit and supple tannins of grapes grown on the alluvial fans lining the edges of the Napa Valley and the hillsides of Carneros. The Cabernet Sauvignon is grown in vineyards on the famed Rutherford Bench, and on the outfalls of York Creek and Conn Creek west of St. Helena. The Cabernet Franc is from the cool climate and sandy soils of Napa's Carneros region.
Without a doubt, Cain Cuveé is our most original creation. Unlike Cain Five and Cain Concept, both of which are about place, Cuveé is about Cain and our vision of what classical red wine can be. Of our three Cabernet blends, the NV5 Cuveé uses the most Merlot— lately, more than 40% — which creates the plush and supple base. Mountain-grown Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc lend aromatic complexity and a bit of edginess to the taste so that the wine will dance on your palate. Also original to the Cuveé is the use of a portion of the previous vintage: 96% 2005 and 4% 2004. This adds complexity and polish to the finish.
