The 2010s can be drunk now or cellared for a decade. Both cuvées possess more intensity and richness than their 2011 counterparts. One of the finest wines Chateau Cabrieres has made over recent vintages is the 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvée Prestige. It possesses plenty of sweet black currant, cherry and raspberry fruit intertwined with dusty, loamy soil, pepper and lavender notes. This classic wine of Provence is full-bodied, deep, rich, pure and authoritative. Drink it over the next 10–12 years.

With a very ripe nose of crush fruit, the Prestige cuvée was the most tannic wine I tasted, and was recently bottled. All the raw materials are here. I would like to taste this a year down the road and see how the tannin and oak integrate. Really nicely done with a lot of potential. 2010 is the first vintage under noted consultant Phillipe Cambie. Tasted at the estate.

Glass-staining purple. Oak-accented aromas of black and blue fruits, lavender and olive. Sappy and broad, with deep cherry-vanilla and floral flavors turning smokier with air. Closes on a chewy note, with very good length and lingering vanillin oak. My projected score will look low if this wine is able to absorb its oak.

Vibrant kirsch and macerated black currant fruit stretches out over a racy, minerally spine. The long, perfumy finish is filled with black tea and pepper, lingering nicely. Drink now through 2017.
