Cabernet Sauvignon Stag's Leap District Napa Valley 2006
Wine & Spirits Review Rated 90 There's a bright cherry ping in the center of this wine, surrounded if not completely hidden within the tannin's fine-ground espresso roast flavor. The tannin is simple and delicious, a long, black line to connect it with braised short ribs. Wine Tasting Notes Dark red with purple undertones. Beautiful dark fruit aromas of blackberry, huckleberry. Vanilla, cedar, black currant, toffee and even a hint of lavender and violets appear in this seductive wine. The first sip of this wine brought to mind the sense of luxury. Lush, full, round, elegant -- with a subversively long finish, it has in body as much to offer as the enigmatic aromas.
Situated on the fabled Silverado Trail in the world-renowned Stags Leap District of California'a Napa Valley, our beautiful Cape Dutch-inspired estate winery is recognised as one of the world's premier fine wine producer.
Deep garnet in color with excellent nose. Dark fruit flavors with a hint of chocolate. Tannin is a bit overpowering on the finish. Could probably benefit from some time in the cellar.

Stags Leap District is one of the first sub-appellations to be recognized in Napa Valley. This unique area on the eastern edge of the valley had been turning out consistently fine Cabernet for decades. Chimney Rock's winemaker, Doug Fletcher, maximizes the potential of this exceptional appellation with a rigorous approach to vineyard management including the "Fletcher Lyre" trellising system, pioneered at Chimney Rock. The system allows grapes to ripen longer which results in small, intensely flavored berries with deeper skin pigments and richer, riper flavors. 2006 was another exceptional vintage in the Stags Leap District and this Chimney Rock Cabernet is a stellar representative. It displays the Stags Leap style of intense, bold flavors that are clearly defined yet never overwhelm. They come through with an inspiring elegance that's very rare in Napa Cabs from other areas.
