Heritance is the creation of Bernard Portet, a visionary Napa Valley winemaking icon who has been crafting wine in this acclaimed region for decades. For Heritance, Bernard works closely with his grower-partners, practicing sustainable farming techniques to achieve the highest quality fruit from select Napa Valley vineyards. Through his assemblage winemaking approach, Bernard and his team blend small lot wines from different varieties and terroirs to create wines that are greater than the sum of their parts. In Bernard’s signature style, Heritance wines are elegant, complex and balanced, and are crafted to pair beautifully with food. Bob Pepi is Consulting Winemaker. Bob started making wines with his father Robert Pepi (in Oakville) in 1981. Production Area The grapes for this wine come from valley floor vineyards in the Oakville, Oak Knoll, Napa Valley and Napa Carneros appellations, where the soils are primarily alluvial and gravel based. The Cabernet Sauvignon is from Red Hen Vineyard & Jaeger Vineyard/Oak Knoll, Silverado Suscol Vineyard & Oro Puro Vineyard in Napa Valley. The Merlot is from Skellenger Vineyard/Oakville. The Petit Verdot is from Huichica Ranch Vineyard/Napa Carneros. Grape Varieties 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot Vinification The grapes were carefully selected and after a few days of cold soaking, the musts were fermented at 85°F for about 10 days. The blend or assemblage of the small lots took place in various stages. The wines were aged for 20 months in 1-4 year old barrels, mostly medium-toast French oak with some American oak barrels. Color Medium garnet Bouquet Highly fragrant with spice, blackberries and cherry notes. Taste Dry, with a solid core of red fruit such as cherry and currant, with notes of tar, leather and spice. Firm structure with fine tannins. Alcohol 13.5% Serving Suggestions Pairs well with grilled red meats (especially steak), hearty stews and hard cheeses.
Diamond Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 - 85 points, Wine Enthusiast / Earthy aromas of black-currant leaf and crushed carnation dominate the profile of this wine, with light black-fruit notes taking second place. Lean and delicate, this wine is ready for drinking now; pair it with wine-braised brisket. Kosher.
Diamond Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 - 87 points, Wine Enthusiast/ An interplay of cherry, rose petal and eucalyptus dominates both the aroma and flavor profile of this wine. Fruit flavors and floral aromatics vie for your attention throughout, creating a pleasing bit of tension that keeps your interest piqued.
The Citra family of stylishly-created Italian wines, widely admired for its enduring high quality and exceptional value, represents a reliable source of versatile, food-friendly varietal wines. As the single most important producer in Italy's picturesque coastal Abruzzi region and a leading Italian brand across America, Citra has built a reputation as a trusted producer of well-made, authentic Italian wines. The winemaking firm of Citra came into being in 1973 when 7,000 small growers scattered throughout the Abruzzi opted to band together to form a single wine cooperative. What they all shared in common was a commitment to win the national and international recognition they felt the wines of their region deserved. The fortitude, resourcefulness and conviction of the quality-minded Abruzzi growers who form Citra continue to make the Abruzzi winery a model of its kind.
