Winemaker's Notes:

It is something of a simplification to summarise CVNE's strategic aspiration for Viña Real to be Burgundian in style and Viña Imperial to be more like a Bordeaux, yet it is clearly not entirely without foundation, judging by the charm of this 1999 and its almost Pinot-like elegance.<br/><br/><br/><br/>Made from 95% Tempranillo and 5% Graciano, this has pleasing notes of red and black cherry, balsam and tobacco; it is finely structured and as so often with fine old Rioja is more powerful than it first appears and therefore is a really fine match for roast meats and even for lighter game.<br/><br/><strong>(Simon Field MW, BBR Buyer) </strong>
