C & T Cellars Merlot Front Porch Napa Valley 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

VINEYARD: The 2005 Front Porch Merlot comes from two different appellations in the Napa Valley. The first is the Oak Knoll District that is getting very well known for its Merlots from such producers of Blackbird Vineyards and the second is the St. Helena appellation. St. Helena is best known for it’s Cabernet Sauvignon but has great weather and foil for merlot also. BLEND: 96% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon PRODUCTION: 1,600 cases TASTING NOTES: The 2005 Front Porch Merlot is very dark in color and has a fabulous merlot aroma of chocolate, coffee, blackberry and hints of vanilla. On the palate the wine is big and rich with nicely balanced tannins. The wine is fruit driven with lots of blackberry and black cheery flavors, on the mid palate and finish the wine show nice spice, mocha and mouth watering acidity.

Among the best values for a well structured Merlot on the market! Tons of berries and cherries unfurl their voluminous juice upon your tongue as a hint of smoke carries throughout the entire sip evolving into a fine cream at the very finish that cleans up upon swallowing. A must try for those who typically find merlot too flabby and weak for their palate and a must collect for those who love merlots!
