This wine exudes its sense of place—the personality and quality of Cabernet Sauvignon grown on Napa Valley’s Rutherford Bench. Our 2008 Beaulieu Vineyard Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon captures this area with briary blackberry, dark plum, black cherry, chocolate and tobacco leaf. The famous Rutherford Dust gives the wine cocoa-powder tannins and texture, while well- integrated oak adds toasty mocha notes to the generous aromas and expansive flavors.
Pure and focused nose of creme de cassis and a lovely blend of dark black and purple fruit. Slight oak on nose. Light cedar notes and a dusty quality. On the palate it's juicy with nice acid and layered with good pure fruit. Flavors of plum, blackberry, blueberry, cassis, hints of cocoa. Finishes very dry and dusty with bigger tannins. Nice structure and good balance. Elegant feel and interesting layers with a nicely lingering finish. More red fruit shows up on the back palate. Currant, etc. 88 pts
Very Nice Napa Cab. No need to go into the $30-$40 range...this one at 20-25 bucks will do ever bit as good A bit of alcohol on the nose, but otherwise full bodied, dark black currant fruit teaming with dried sage/herbal notes. Nice long finish with bold tannins.

Beaulieu Vineyards famous Napa Cabernet. From the super 2007 vintage, Winemaker Jeffrey Stambor blends 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Syrah, 4% other Bordeaux-style varietals from sites throughout Napa Valley, but primarily the BV Rutherford and Calistoga Ranches. The wine was aged 18 months in oak barrels, 40% American, 35% French and 25% Hungarian, for a richer texture and a well-integrated new oak component. The The Wine Spectator said "A solid effort, clean, tight and concentrated, with a mix of cedar, currant and dried berry fruit that's balanced and appealing, if shy on depth and focus. Drink now through 2017."
