Bully Hill Vineyards was the first small estate winery in the Keuka Lake area after the end of Prohibition, and became the cornerstone for the growth of many estate wineries. To date over a dozen wineries grace Keuka Lake, and over a hundred wineries populate the entire Finger Lakes region. A product is extension of a person's soul. That is the Bully Hill philosophy on the wine we produce.
We tried this wine a week ago with a variety of other wines from the Finger Lakes. Bully Hill was fairly disappointing. For one thing, even though it did advertise sweetness, it was just too much. The wine reminded me more of a barbeque sauce than a wine; it was very heavy on the mouthfeel and cloyingly sweet. Furthermore, vegetal tastes were very off-putting and did not help the wine.
