User Reviews for Buena Vista Pinot Noir Ramal Vineyard Estate

Winemaker's Notes:

The grapes were hand harvested at night off the Buena Vista Carneros estate between September 28 – October 1, 2005, hand sorted and de-stemmed. Each lot was cold soaked for five – eight days to maximize color and flavor extraction. Fermentation took place in five ton open-top fermentors and punched down three times a day to broaden the texture and complexity of the wine. After an average of 14 days on skins, the wine was aged in French oak barrels (30% new, balance of one-four year old) for 8 months. The coopers were Francois Frères, Rousseau, Marcel Cadet.

Tasting Notes:

Our EVS clonal wines give us the opportunity to showcase individual clones or blocks that perform exceptionally well in any given vintage. In 2005 the Dijon 828 clone of Pinot stood out for its distinct fruit intensity. The color is deep purple with aromas of bright red fruits, pomegranate, cardomom and subtle toast. The mouth is driven by flavors of raspberry, sweet cherry and candied ginger. The finish is long and delicate with bright acidity. The 2005 Clone 828 Pinot Noir shows the elegance and focused red fruits that set this clonal selection apart. Try this rich Pinot Noir with roasted duck breasts with shaved black truffles.
