Rating: 84/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the October 2010 issue. Bothersome earthiness dogs this wine right from the start and stays the course even as a bit of fruit struggles to surface. It is supple and smooth and fairly appealing in feel, but its slightly dirty flirtations and its lack of keen focus relegate it to the ranks of less-than-successful Pinots.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Unlikely to improve with further aging.



Tasting Notes:

The 2008 Swan Selection Pinot Noir shows aromas of bright red fruits, such as red cherry and pomegranate, along with a delicate floral component, while a subtle toasty oak rounds out the nose. The wine continues on the palate with flavors of bright black cherries alongside candied red fruits, nutmeg, and a hint of vanilla, while having a nice acid to fruit balance. Try this with barbecued tri-tip, Pork Tenderloin, or any recipe with mushrooms.
