No detectable nose, a very soft and subtle wine. Very slight tannins. Soft finish. Overall too delicate and light for my tastes - preferred the same wine thats a blend of clones
Very bright sweet fruits (cherry). Very fruity, in fact its almost overpowering for such a soft wine. Some nice tannins, but hidden behind the fruit. Still a nice wine.
Very deep color. A slight barnyard and dusty nose. Very soft fruits in the mouth - cherries, very nice. Very soft silky tannins.

In 2005 the Pommard clone of Pinot stood out for its depth of color and fruit intensity. The wine is ripe and explosive with red cherry, black plum, clove and jasmine. The palate is soft and generous with opulent red and black fruit with forest floor nuance. Try this silky Pinot Noir with oven roasted pork tenderloin with cherry reduction.
Wine Tasting NotesThe Pinot Noir Carneros has aromas of bright bing cherry, fresh ground nutmeg and earthy wild mushroom. The palate explores hints of toastiness and exhibits flavors of deep blackberry and cherry with undertones of dark chocolate and clove spice. This is a wine of depth that leads to a long finish complemented by soft tannins and lingering berry fruit, all considered hallmarks of Carneros Pinot Noir.
The Merlot grapes were handpicked at night to preserve fruit character. The grapes were then hand-sorted on our belt system and gently destemmed before a five day cold soak which increases color, fruit essence and structure. Following primary and malolactic fermentation in open top fermentors, the wine was aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels (33% new) for 13 and-a-half months. For the final blend, a small amount of Syrah was added to bring more depth and complexity to the finished wine. This 2005 Carneros Merlot is beautifully balanced and rich, a testament to our Carneros estate fruit, showing aromas of cassis and roasted coffee beans are followed by toasty oak, black cherry and sweet vanilla and flavors of black cherry, green tea and spice with hints of earth and tobacco. It has a supple mouthfeel and finishes with polished tannins. This versatile wine pairs well with many dishes, including roasted tomato-sauce on pasta, rack of lamb or herb roasted chicken. It is equally delicious paired with a cheese course featuring aged Gouda or a tangy blue cheese like Point Reyes.
