Buena Vista Merlot Carneros 2002
The grapes were handpicked between September 25 and October 31, 2005. After harvest, the grapes were cold soaked for two to five days to increase color, fruit and structure. After fermentation, the wine was aged in a combination of 30% new French and American oak barrels. This 2002 Carneros Reserve Merlot spent 27 months in wood prior to bottling. The 2002 Carneros Merlot is a classic example of cool climate Merlot’s ability to be rich, well structured and complex. Aromas of blackberry, plum, mocha, are highlighted by light notes of green tea, tobacco and sweet vanilla oak. Beautifully layered flavors of bright red fruits, earth, and mocha are delivered to the palate amid big rich tannins. The smooth elegant mouthfeel leads way to a long lingering finish.
