What to Expect

Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.

Reviews

The aromas in Buena Vista 2005 Carneros Chardonnay are a combination of crisp green apple, orange blossom, clove and sweet Meyer lemon. It is a classic example of Carneros Chardonnay and shows all the unique characteristics of the region's terroir. The flavors on the palate show apple and pear layered with bright citrus and lemon curd. Subtle notes of vanilla and spice add texture and round off the long, smooth finish.

As with the 2005 Buena Vista Merlot tasted recently, the Carneros Chardonnay was both surprisingly tasty and very well priced. Cool-climate feel to its fruit intensity and lively, crisp texture. Rich citrus and pear fruit along with toast and spice from the oak, which is not overdone. A bargain if you can get this wine for $14 or under.

Carneros is perhaps best known for its Chardonnay, characterized by rich fruit flavors of apple, pear and pineapple, with a crisp acidity. Harvested from our estate vineyards in the esteemed Carneros appellation, our Carneros Estate Chardonnay is beautifully balanced. Tropical fruit flavors are integrated with almond and spicy oak nuances. Flavors of ripe yellow apples open up to coconut, pineapple and banana with a lingering nutty finish.

while i agree that this wine contains flavors of crisp fruits....i also found this chard to be somewhat buttery and toasty as well. however, i say this as a positive attribute and think the wine is great for the price.
