Very attractive clear golden yellow in the glass. Very big tropical fruit nose. There is fruit on the palate, but not as much as I feared. Some oak, but again, not overly so. The mitigating factor that I think balances the tropical fruit and the oak is a nice refreshing acid component. This wine will go very nicely with tonight's roasted chicken. US$14.99 at Costco

(343 views) Tasted by Philman15 on 6/23/2012 & rated 88 points: Bright and oaky chard, lots of pear and great finish. Would definitely drink again, a little pricy though for what it is. (329 views)
Inviting nose of banana cream, vanilla and Anjou pear tart. Slight salted caramel aroma. Honeyed fruit and luscious creaminess. On the palate, it enters with a surprising crispness given the creamy nose. Tropical fruits with mango, guava and golden apple and pear. Creamy vanilla appears on the mid palate with the slightest hint of toast/wood. Nice salinity and minerality add to complex layers. Tasty! 89 pts.
Just a bit pass its prime but not complex and interesting enough to enjoy. Two years prior may have been nice.
As with the 2005 Buena Vista Merlot tasted recently, the Carneros Chardonnay was both surprisingly tasty and very well priced. Cool-climate feel to its fruit intensity and lively, crisp texture. Rich citrus and pear fruit along with toast and spice from the oak, which is not overdone. A bargain if you can get this wine for $14 or under.
while i agree that this wine contains flavors of crisp fruits....i also found this chard to be somewhat buttery and toasty as well. however, i say this as a positive attribute and think the wine is great for the price.

Rating: 92/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the October 2010 issue. Full-scaled aromas of ripe apples, sweet oak, vanilla and toast introduce this expressive Chardonnay, and there is no let up in richness on the palate. The wine is moderately full-bodied, very well-balanced and comes with all of the fruity extract needed to fill its ample frame, and, while a touch coarse and a bit lemony on the finish, it never wavers in focus and persists impressively. It will be helped in the near-term by service with richer foods, and there is a case to be made that it has good potential for a few years of improvement.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Further bottle aging can improve this wine.

Wine Tasting NotesOur EVS clonal wines give us the opportunity to showcase individual clones or blocks that perform exceptionally well in any given vintage. This wine exhibits aromas of steely minerality, lemon drop, clove, pear aromas and subtle matchstick. The Dijon Clones Chardonnay continues with rich flavors of oily bright citrus, focused peach, mandarin orange and candied ginger.
These Chardonnay grapes were hand harvested at night September 9-21, 2004. Due to the geological and topographical diversity of our estate, we harvest blocks based upon ripeness and flavor maturity. The grapes were whole cluster pressed and traditional Burgundian techniques were employed including barrel fermentation, 100% ML and eight months on the lees in French oak barrels (32% new). There’s no doubt about the appellation here. The aromas are a combination of lemon drop, green apple, orange blossom, clove, hazelnut screaming Carneros from start to finish. The flavors are lemon lime, apple, pear fruit driven with racy acidity and rich lemon cream and subtle vanilla/spice, which adds more texture. Our 2004 Carneros Chardonnay beautifully conveys site, variety and vintage.
