Buena Vista Carneros Winery Carneros Rose of Syrah 2008
In early-September, the Syrah was hand-picked during the cool night to preserve the freshness of the fruit. The grapes were whole-cluster pressed and fermented in a stainless steel tank where the juice sat overnight on the skins to extract color then fermented at a low temperature to achieve the desired fruit profile. In February 2009, the wines were sampled and then blended with a small amount of Chardonnay that was stainless steel fermented to achieve the desired color and flavor.

Buena Vista Carneros' first Rosé of Syrah shows aromas of strawberry, papaya, honeydew, with fresh floral aromas and sweet perfume notes. Sip and you discover this medium-bodied wine is filled with complex flavors of Queen Anne cherry, blood orange and citrus. The 2008 dry rosé finishes crisp and clean, and has the structure to pair nicely with even highly flavored dishes. It is the perfect patio wine on a warm spring day and matches perfectly with anything off the summer grill. Try it with Chinese barbecue pork or Cajun barbecued shrimp.
