In early-September, the fruit was hand-picked during the cool night to preserve the freshness of the fruit. The grapes were whole-cluster pressed and fermented primarily in stainless steel with 12% of the juice fermented in 4-year old neutral French oak barrels.
The cool climate of Carneros suits Pinot Gris extremely well, yielding fruit with zesty, fresh flavors, while the extra complexity and richness comes from a small portion of the wine that’s fermented and matured in oak. Our Carneros Pinot Gris shows aromas of nectarine, citrus, hints of orange marmalade and floral notes, followed by a nice mouthfeel of minerality with Meyer lemon and peach flavors through the finish. It is a bright, crisp and flavorful wine great with food or on its own. It is an ideal aperitif wine that matches perfectly with grilled fish topped with a mango salsa.
