Buehler Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2003

Member Review by Wine Fire:

Sour fruit on an initially tight nose. As nose readjusts and settles in, strong wafts of cocoa emerge to join a pleasant arrangement of cherry and earthy aromas. At two hours, notes of damp forest floor mix with molded cedar bark to provide a woodsy backdrop for coffee and burnt caramel scents. The palate starts sharp and bitter on the back with sour cherry and black currant reinforcing the tart collage. Tangy cherry and blueberry emerge at an hour, adding savory fruitiness. Strong coffee, bitter at first, emerges to take stage center. The wine reaches its peak at two hours, with complex nose, fruit and coffee mid-palate, and long, savory finish.

Buehler Vineyards is a small, family-owned winery located in the mountains east of St. Helena in Napa Valley. Situated north of Pritchard Hill and Conn Valley, near the base of Howell Mountain, our hillside vineyards are planted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon, with smaller blocks of old-vine Zinfandel. Our family has been farming this beautiful estate for thirty-six years. We combine that experience and the unique terroir of our hillside vineyards with low yields, meticulous vineyard management, and minimalist winemaking techniques to create wines of uncommon complexity and depth, and to present these wines to wine lovers at reasonable prices.
