Good deep ruby. Multidimensional nose combines black raspberry, minerals, crushed stone, smoked meat and gunpowder tea. The 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon is a candidate for ldquo;wine of the vintage.rdquo; It boasts a saturated black/purple color as well as a sexy, up-front nose of melted licorice intermixed with creosote, blueberry and blackberry liqueur, and graphite scents. It is layered, opulent, full-bodied, and atypically accessible for a young Bryant Cabernet, with low acidity and exceptional length. This remarkable effort will be one of the easiest to drink as well as fastest to evolve Bryants made to date. Anticipated maturity: nowndash;2015.
Made in a full-bodied, more masculine style, the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon offers more evolved aromas of high class, unsmoked cigar tobacco, blackberries, black currants, earth, and underbrush. It is a deep, dense, ruggedly constructed Cabernet revealing powerful tannins in the finish. While outstanding, it is dwarfed by the monumental quality of the 2007. Give it 1ndash;2 years of cellaring, and consume it over the following two decades.
Saturated ruby. Sappy black fruits on the fresh, slightly medicinal nose; shows an almost grapey primary character. Dense, bright and full-bodied; offers an uncanny combination of weight and energy. This has superb fruit, given lift by floral, medicinal and licorice notes. A pure cabernet with terrific power and thrust, but without any heaviness. The very fine tannins belie the winersquo;s serious structure for aging. Winemaker Philippe Melka points out that this is the second vintage to come from completely different vines planted in 1996 through 1998: different row spacing and row direction, different clones, different rootstocks.
A big, rich, extracted style, with a gutsy core of currant, pencil lead, earth and plum, full-bodied from start to finish, with a long, detailed aftertaste, mouthcoating tannins and touches of herb, cedar and spice. Builds momentum. Drink now through 2012.
A classic Cabernet mdash; dark, rich, plush and enormously extracted, packing in a range of currant, black cherry, coffee, vanilla, herb, tea and spicy flavors. Beautifully focused, long, rich and concentrated, it zooms on the finish. Awfully tempting now (you can drink it!), but cellaring should only broaden the flavors and add dimension. Best from 2000 through 2010.
Undeniably ripe and fleshy, with a pretty scent of cedary oak leading to a supple core of currant and red cherry flavors that are fine and persistent on the finish. Needs time to shed its fine-grained tannins. The flavors are long and persistent on the finish, though it shows simpler than it did from the barrel. Drink now through 2012.
