Bruno Verdi Riesling Oltrepò Pavese Vigna Costa 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

Tasting Notes: Ruby-red coloured sparkling wine with strong purple reflections. Intense, fragrant, vinous and fruit like to the nose. Pleasantly sweet, caressing, of long persistence in the mouth. It should be drunk when it s fresh. It s well combined with sweets such as tarts and puff pastries. Ideal temperature service is 12°C. Sangue di Juda (Juda s Blood) is undoubtedly one of the most typical wines of the Oltrepo Pavese. Its production is limited to the area of Canneto Pavese and partly Stradella, Broni and Castana, just in those areas where the Giorgi vineyards are located. Soil is not very fertile; it s mainly sandy, limestone, sometimes steeply sloping, excellently exposed to south, therefore the very limited yield per vine stock doesn t generally exceed 30 hl of wine per hectare. The resulting quality is very good, rich in fragrant and intense scents and delicious, fruit-like and pleasantly sweet tastes. Percentage Grape: Barbera 40%, Croatina 40%, Uva Rara, Vespolina e Pinot Nero 20% Alcohol Percentage: 7 %

Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

A slightly sweet, slightly frizzante red wine from Oltrepò Pavese. Enjoy this uniquely styled wine with a light chill alongside prosciutto and other cured meats.
