What to Expect

Nebbiolo is a fickle grape famed as much for its pale appearance as for its tannic character and produces some of the most perfumed and richly flavored wines. Though generally only medium-bodied, the wines possess rose and anise scented aromatics and deep flavors of cherry, orange peel and subtle green herb tones.

At first this offer a deep, blue clay toned nose that slowly gained in intensity adding notes of spice, ash, musky flowers and ranier cherry. In the mouth this was big and rich with deep, fleshy fruit supported by lots of very finely grained tannins. The fruit was at the dark berry end of the spectrum with a medicinal tone and a brown spiced anise note. With time the wine lost a touch of focus as the palate continued to evolve revealing a more animal aspect and adding increasingly soapy floral tones and a warm braised fennel element tot he dusty cherry fruit.
