Bruno Clair compares the Domaine's '01s to their '97s but with less concentration and considerably less concentration than their terrific '99s. Clair terms the vintage an early drinker that will give much pleasure over the next 5 to 7 years. He reports that sugars came in between 11 and 11.5% at the villages level and 12 to 12.5% at the 1er and grand cru level; the wines were then chaptalized to about 13%. Clair also noted that there was a touch of botrytis at the harvest but not enough to be of concern. The wines will be bottled in the spring, probably with a light filtration. (Vineyard read more...
