Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Mo Conti Costanti 2004

Winemaker's Notes:

Andrea Costanti has been running his family estate for over twenty years. It is situated in Colle al Matrichese in the eastern zone of the Montalcino district, just outside the town of Montalcino. It covers 10 hectares of vineyards and benefits from the talents of consultant oenologist Vittorio Fiore. Their style is characterised by the striking elegance and intensity of the best wines from this zone, combining the power of Montalcino with the elegance that comes from vineyards situated at a high altitude in this part of the zone. Robert Parker's Italian critic wrote of the 2003: "Costanti’s 2003 Brunello di Montalcino is among the handful number of standouts in this vintage. The wine reveals lovely depth and purity. Fragrant aromatics meld seamlessly onto the palate, where layers of dark cherries, spices and toasted oak come to life in a very pretty expression of Sangiovese from Montalcino. There is plenty of volume and depth here to insure at least another decade of superb drinking. The 2004 like the 2003 Brunello saw malolactic fermentation in steel, after which it spent about 18 months in 350-liter French oak barrels followed by another roughly 18 months in 30-hectoliter Slavonian oak casks. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2018." 93 points.

bricky/rusty red hue hints of tomato leaves,barnyard and game on the palate it shows maturity with nice secondary flavours like menthol and tomato leaves . outstanding minerality and acidity with a juicy mouthfeel . it will last a long time
