Member Review by Philip James:

Rich and smooth, this is an easy drinking wine, with bright cherry flavors and a vanilla almond finish on nice sweet fruits.

Brown Estate is a private family owned and operated estate winery tucked into the hills east of Rutherford in the Napa Valley. With a dream of owning a family farm, our parents put down roots in the Valley in 1980. Between 1985 and 1990 we planted a total of fifty acres of vineyards that include Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay. Through our first decade of farming the land, we sold all of our fruit to a variety of small local wineries. In 1996 we produced our first vintage of Zinfandel under the Brown Estate label, and subsequently have expanded production to include Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, our Chaos Theory blend, and Petite Sirah. This year we celebrate our 30th year in the Valley and our fifteenth crush. As we consider these milestones, we take great pride in the fact that every aspect of our business remains under direct family control. Read less

Tasting Notes: Brilliant dark magenta core with ruby rim. Lively nose of ripe Rainier cherries, blackberry compote, winter spice, and heavy cream leads to Asian apple and Meyer lemon followed by dark chocolate, tiramisu, and fresh baked croissants/brioche. Time in the glass brings forth rose petal potpourri, tea rose perfume, brandied cherries, and heavy whipping cream. Silky mouthfeel, medium-bodied yet markedly vibrant. Over time the integration of its blended components will make this a wine to revisit again and again, each bottle revealing a new dimension as it evolves. Drink now through 2030. Composition: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah Barrel Aging: 12 months in 25% new oak, 50/50 French/American Alcohol: 14.7% by vol.

Tasting Notes: Once in your glass our 2013 Chaos envelops the bowl in a wash of dramatic royal purple surrounded by a delicate garnet rim. Its intense billowing fragrance begins with blue fruits then shifts markedly to red fruit and flowers – blueberry, mulberry, blackberry, then bing cherry, violet, and rose. Ripe fruit commingles with tart pomegranate and winter spice, further revealing sassafras root, subtle spearmint, and cherry cola with gravel, loam, and hint of minerality. Mouthfeel is dense, rich, and decadent with loads of luscious fruit, vanillin, and cascading spice. Drink now through 2023. Composition: 60% Napa Valley Estate Grown Zinfandel 35% Napa Valley Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon 5% Napa Valley Estate Grown Petite Sirah Barrel Aging: 12 months in 25% new oak, 50/50 French/American Alcohol: 14.5% by vol. ** Only 3 in Stock **

Inky garnet core and translucent ruby rim are brilliant, vibrant, and crystal clear. Nose delights with unmistakable Brown Estate notes of Asian apple and exotic spice that give way to gardenia, hibiscus, Moroccan rose, and effervescent citrus, interwoven with hints of eucalyptus and subtle cedar. Deeper aromas of juicy pomegranate, grenadine, macerated ripe cherries, and spun brown sugar commingle with dusty cocoa, cigar box, amber, graphite, and toasted brioche. Silky texture is intense and rich on the palate with magnificent depth, concentration, and extraction. This is a superbly bright and vivacious wine with invigorating grip. Drink now through 2022. - Winery ** Only 4 in Stock **
