The Trapiche team was immensely proud to receive the Trophy for the "Argentinian Wine Producer of the Year 2006", awarded by a jury of wine experts on October 31st in London. When the IWSC, one of the most prestigious wine competitions in the world, created the trophy for "Argentinian wine producer of the year" in 2004, Trapiche was the first winery ever to receive it. The trophy was created because of the growing importance of the Argentina category within the industry; P&O Nedlloyd Logistics is the official sponsor. History repeats itself. Being awarded the trophy again is the proof that Trapiche is paving the way in Argentina´s wine industry, both in terms of quality and innovation. The winner is designated on the basis of its general performance at the IWSC 2006 and Trapiche won the only Gold Medal for an Argentinian wine with Medalla 2003. According to the competition officials, "Each year, the International Wine and Spirit Competition commends the achievements of those members of the wine and spirit trade who make an outstanding contribution to the industry. These individuals or companies set the standards of excellence for the rest of the industry to follow and influence the quality, variety, value, and educational information available to the wine and spirit consumer." Undoubtedly this trophy consolidates Trapiche´s leadership in the Argentinian wine industry. Read less

Had this with Dinner the other night at Mercat Bistro. Found this review online on National Post and feel it does far better than I can. '...A big fruity malbec with mulberry and blackberry fruit aromas, hints of oak plus floral and herbal tones, plus some dark chocolate. It’s full bodied, fairly dense, creamy and lively. Focus is well maintained on to the finish. Try with rich game or roast meat dishes. Very good to excellent length...' At the price point, superb.

Dark dark purple. Aromas of plum, spice and heat on the nose. Flavours of plum, blackberry, leather and anise. High on heat and low on tannins. Not a bad Malbec.

A very earthy, medium-to-full bodied red. Supple, well-mannered tannins. Nose recalls freshly turned earth and forest understory. Decent length.

The red wines begin with the Broquel Malbec which spent 15 months in new French and American oak. Purple-colored, the nose offers up pain grille, mineral, spice box, blueberry, and black cherry notes. This is followed by a medium to full-bodied, layered, spicy wine with excellent grip and depth, several years of aging potential, and a long, pure finish. It is a fine example of over-delivering at a humble price."

Intense purple red color with ruby hues. Aromas of black fruit jam and liqueur, with an elegant touch of smoke, vanilla and chocolate. Sweet attack and full-bodied tannins. Long and pleasant finish. - Winery

The Broquel Malbec from Trapiche is on par with most producers’ Reserva wine but at a much more attractive price. Older vines (15+ years) are sourced, 100% Malbec and the wine is carefully vinified and then aged 15 months in French and American oak barrels. Blackberry, cassis, plums, smoke, dark chocolate and licorice flavors swirl on the palate. This is a Malbec with just the right balance of intensity and style. Wine Spectator scored it 90 points saying "Layers of mulled spice, tar and incense drive this brooding red, with a tight core of cassis and plum skin. The finish ends with a cream-tinged aftertaste of fruit and mocha. Drink now through 2018." On Sale!!

Saturated and pitch black to look at, and not much different in scent. This is a fully extracted, modern Bonarda that's well made and generous. Full-bodied wine lovers should like the meaty, dark berry and cocoa flavors. Tannic but layered on the finish. - M.S. Ripe, offering fresh blueberry, kirsch and cassis flavors backed by juicy acidity and light tannins, as the finish unfolds with mocha, savory licorice and spice notes. Drink now through 2017. 9,000 cases imported. -NW The 2010 Broquel Malbec is fermented in 70% concrete and 30% stainless steel and then aged in 70% French oak for 14 months. It has a light but well-defined nose of dark cherry and cassis fruit with a smear of creamy oak. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy, chunky black fruit and a clean, pleasing finish of blackberry and strawberry laced with prudent oak to lend some lift. This is a fine, well-priced Malbec. Drink now-2014. ** SOLD OUT **

A dark, winey style, with slightly rigid structure supporting the dark linzer torte, boysenberry and plum fruit. A toasty edge holds sway on the slightly stolid finish. Drink now. 58,000 cases made. -JM
