Brooks Oak Ridge Vineyard Gewurztraminer 2013

Winemaker's Notes:

Highly aromatic of course, with pungent citrus notes of fresh Valencia orange, grapefruit, key limes and meyer lemon. Medium weight and creamy, orange cake, rose petal potpourri and white flower. Savory fennel, sage and basil, nutmeg and clove spices and a powerful finish. Gewurtz has the tendency to be too sweet, too viscous, too aromatic, too overpowering. This is not. It has an elegance and a lightness, with pretty highlights of classic Gewurtztraminer characteristics, which makes for quite an enjoyable experience. This would also work wonderfully as an aperitif with a variety of cheeses, fruit salad, or my mom’s ambrosia. Save a bottle for dessert with the aforementioned orange cake, panna cotta or fresh grapefruit granita for a refreshing end to the meal.
