Brooklyn Oenology North Fork of Long Island Merlot 2005

Member Review by aronowm2:

I'm from Brooklyn so I have a soft spot for this wine. It's tangy, yet old world France. Old world meets new world. Easy drinker for an '05. No distinct flavors of note. Just a great drink. The $18 price tag is a little steep, but it's a pretty unique bottle with local artwork on the label.

I also live in BKLYN, so was tempted to give it a 5! Starts with a licorice nose, followed by a medium bodied, tart, but very nice merlot. Solid minerality

Very nice finish and well balenced. Not big enough for steak but all else worked fine. Definatly looking forward to the next bottle

Merlot sourced from the North Fork and vinified in Brooklyn. Classic notes of plum, coffee and chocolate present on the nose and palate. A firm tannic structure ensures this would stand up nicely to some red meat.
