Light cherry in color, with spicy box aromas. Cherry and a bitter tobacco flavor on the palate. Didn't taste integrated to me, and not sure ageing would help.

Winemaker's Notes:

2005 ARABESQUE A Southern Rhone-Style Blend Formerly a horse rehabilitation facility, Bridlewood Estate is an artisan winery focused on producing exceptional Syrah and other distinctive Rhone varietals from California's Central Coast. Arabesque is our name for our proprietary red blend and is designed to show how a classical Southern Rhone wine can be made from California fruit. Winemaker Notes: A blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, Counoise, Cinsault, Syrah, and Viognier contribute to this red wine. In 2005, over 90% of the fruit came from our Sunnybrook Ranch in the Templeton Gap region of the Paso Robles AVA. The different grape varieties were harvested separately, each at their own peak of ripeness, and fermented separately employing varietal specific techniques for de-stemming, crushing and fermentation. A combination of punch down and pump over fermentation techniques, cold soaking, designer yeast, and co-fermentation, were used. After settling, the wine is racked to small French oak cooperage where it remains until assemblage. Aging, fining, and racking is lot specific with the final cuvee assembled between 8 and 12 months after harvest. The finished wine is bottle-aged for a minimum of six months before release. Tasting Profile: Arabesque is immediately approachable upon opening showcasing fruit forward aromas of cherry and pomegranate. The wine was oak aged just enough to add complexity giving the wine giving nuances of cigar box and spice. When allowing the wine time to breath a bright nose of strawberry and cherry captures the senses giving way to, smoky game and tobacco and spice. Classical Southern Rhone flavors of fresh fruit, medium body and light tannins begin with spice and cedar, leading to complex layers of cherry, strawberry and raspberry. A crisp finish and soft tannins allow for a silky mouth feel and a long, elegant finish. Finished Wine: Varietal Content: 36% Grenache, 27% Mourvedre, 13% Cinsault, 11% Counoise 7% Viognier, 6% Syrah Appellation Origin: Central Coast Alcohol Content: 14.8% Oak Aging: 100% of the wine was aged for six months in new and used French Oak Case Production: 4,118 cases
