What to Expect

Barbaresco is a wine that shares much with its close neighbor Barolo. Both are made with the Nebbiolo grape and from nearly contiguous plots of vines in Piedmont. The slightly warmer climate of Barbaresco, and resulting earlier harvest, makes these wines a touch lighter and less complex than Barolo, if more elegant and earlier maturing. They share much the same flavor profile with their siblings though tend to be less intense.

Editorial Reviews

9-12 months in botti
Really fresh aromatics are redolent of cherry, herb, and sandy soil with a touch of bitter citrus rind. Develops engaging notes of rust, rosewater and an edge of cedar. 3
Soft and fruity in the mouth with lots of soft tannin, solid acidity and a gentle sweetness 2+
Up front there is a rush of lovely strawberry fruit with a sandy soil background and underlay’s of sweet licorice and green herb 2+
A bit grippy on the finish, which is long and pure with a young, leafy edge and fruit blossom notes, and lingering licorice tones Lovely austerity. 3

Classic penetrating Nebbiolo aromatics of, oyster shell, red fruit, dried roses, rust, iron, dried herb, leather, and still a touch of youthful melon. Soft and juicy in the mouth with a spicy, herb toned, really fruit driven mid-palate full of lovely wild strawberry notes. Lush and polished without being fat or manipulated, in fact it has an almost lean gracefulness. Classic Nebbiolo d’Alba that is eminently drinkable with lots of very fine, willowy tannins and sparkling acidity. Lovely mineral cut on the cleansing finish and a touch of menthol freshness. Vibrant, pure and light on its feet, read more...

Classic nebbiolo rose petal notes along with some violet. Youthful and fruity on the nose with both red and black fruit. Pleasantly soft on the palate with prounounced acidity. Lengthy finish with some lingering mineral and earth.

All the tar and rose petal notes that typify classic Nebbiolo are present here. Enzo Brezzo doesn't allow a single barrique to enter the doors of his winery thus his wines are ultra-traditional in style and have superb aging potential.
