Brecon Estate Zinfandel Tannat Paso Robles 2014
A favorite with Millie, our Great Pyrenees, as Tannat hales from the shadow of said mountains. Rugged tannins and intense color, it is a rare locale indeed that ripens this grape to perfection. (Think Uruguay, Paso, and Madiran). Frequently hidden in Zin at 3-4%, here it’s unashamedly 35%. Smells/tastes like the full bodied old vine Zin that it is, with a rather distinguished backbone.
Editorial Reviews for Brecon Estate Zinfandel Tannat Paso Robles
Soft strawberry and cherry aromas with a hint of clay, wild flowers and cinnamon spice. This is expansive and explosive on the palate, very fruity with notes of cherry, strawberry and raspberry set against a bracing acidity that carries a wave of spice with it and leaves structural tannins and notes of blueberry and chocolate in its wake.
