What to Expect

Zinfandel is considered America's own great indigenous grape, even though its origins lie on the Adriatic coast. Planted throughout California and the Pacific Northwest, Zinfandel is at its best in warm regions with cooler temperatures during harvest. The wines can range from off-dry Rosés, White Zinfandels, and light bistro styled wines, to big, rich powerful wines - even luscious wines for dessert bottling. The flavors range from plummy to raspberry, although deep blackberry fruit and brambly spice tones are most common.

I don't know what year this Brazin listing is for, but the 2006 is wonderful! I saw it last night as a new addition to my local wine store and thought I'd give it a shot as I usually really like anything from the Lodi region, and I was not disappointed in the slightest. In fact, I think it's going to be included among my regular buys. It's a very smooth zinfandel with a very nice level of spice throughout versus the big POW at the end. I also got a hint of floral in there as well--albeit very slight but just enough to tease me into wanting more. Check it out and let me know if you agree!

Paired well with good tandoori grill, spicy mint chutney, nice memorable bite to it at the start, astringent, then smooth, haven't compared to many zins yet, better than Gnarly Head in every way except price. Liking the bottle design, somehow thinking that's factoring into that extra half glass rating...

This is a really smooth zin. Dark fruit flavor...seems to not linger on palate, which was disappointing because it was so good.

Wow. Take a sip of this before letting it breathe if you want some flavors that will knock you on your a--.

After this breathes and calms down you get a very versatile wine that for me has gone great with everything from BBQ, to pizza, steak, and even with just a good old fashioned bag of salty chips.

Nice strong fruit flavors, and it leaves a nice layer of flavor on the palate for a good 10-20 seconds, maybe even a bit longer.

I also like to bottle design as someone else mentioned. Def. a good bottle to bring to a party, and it can be found for under $15.
