Brass Tacks Cabernet Sauvignon Central Coast 2009

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Cherry, candy licorice, mint and burnt wood notes on the nose. This is rather broad in the mouth, with fairly assertive acidity that adds considerable cut to the ripe red fruits and adds a green apple edge to the mid-palate. The mid-palate is flecked with licorice and spice, while the rather short finish shows powdery, dusty wood tones. Easy to drink, if simple and not particularly well-balanced. 84pts

Rich and juicy blackberry and cherry flavors with hints of chocolate and tobacco. Balanced and smooth. An elegant California Cabernet at a great price.

Classic Cab flavors and a good QPR wine. Solid Cabernet from California's Central Coast. Aromas of cherry and leather, confirmed on tasting with plenty of rich ripe red fruits. Tannins are fine and integrated, easy to drink. Buy again.

Liked this wine. Good fruit, not over the top, and just the right touch of wood ending with refined tannins. Overall good balance and very food-friendly. The label talks about not over-manipulating their wines and letting the personality of the fruit show. I get it!
