Grassy and herbal immediately in the nose, this also has a touch of petrol and then some lime, lemon and melon coming through as well. In the mouth this is zesty and lively, with a bit of effervescence, some white pepper, classic herbal green pepper and lemon notes, some dill and even a tropical fruit note. Very characterful and classic for Marlborough, easy to drink and enjoyable. 89 pts

Intensely aromatic with that classic gooseberry, cut grass, asparagus and grapefruit nose that typifies Marlborough Sauvies. Bright and juicy on the palate with good energy and attractive complexity to the asparagus and green pea framed fruit flavors that hint at peach then receded back into a more classic grapefruit and lime profile. Finishing with good length and lovely purity, this is quite delicious and very refreshing. 88pts

I bought this bottle of wine from the local supermarket where it was on special offer for £5. It is from an area at the northern end of New Zealand's South Island.I started it last night with my supper of fish cakes It is a dry wine. There is plenty of a melon.elderflower and gooseberry style fruit. This had plenty of flavour and was a good match for the fish.

This 2013 seems to be even better than the 2012. It has a great acid balance, unlike some NZ Sauv Blancs that are too acidic. Lots of fruit here with grapefruit, lemon and lime dominating. Noticeable gardenia and citrus in the nose. A tremendous value. My rating-- 91.

This 2012 is acid balanced and has nice fruit. The nose is mostly lemon/lime with a bit of grapefruit. A very enjoyable wine. My rating -- 89

Probably the most grapefruity Sauvignon Blanc I have ever tasted. That is not good/bad, just different.

Mellow, lemon pear flavor on the palate without much acidity showing. Very subdued, with a quiet but persistent finish.

Pungent aromas of grapefruit pith, green and white pepper and spices. Offers good body and intensity, with a juicy greenness to the grapefruit, pepper and mint flavors. Brisk but nicely ripe — in contrast to so many 2012s.

Even Brancott’s entry-level Sauvignon Blanc is a solid effort, adding a hint of fumé character to its otherwise straightforward blend of stone and passion fruit. There might be a touch of residual sugar to give the impression of weight, but it’s balanced by the tangy acids on the finish.

The original New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, Brancott has been producing this outstanding wine since 1979 and it's been a benchmark ever since. Brancott Vineyards have the unique distinction of having planted the first commercial vineyard in Marlborough. And we've all seen what that's led to. This 2013 is yet again named a Best Buy by Wine Enthusiast Magazine who said "Even Brancott’s entry-level Sauvignon Blanc is a solid effort, adding a hint of fumé character to its otherwise straightforward blend of stone and passion fruit. There might be a touch of residual sugar to give the impression of weight, but it’s balanced by the tangy acids on the finish."
