Sweet, stemmy, and slightly tropically-fruited on the nose with really nice layered complexity. On entry this is rather light and elegant with a very soft, round, caressing character. The strawberry fruit is fresh and set off by gently leafy and mineral tones that linger on the medium-length finish. 89pts

On the palate, it was tight and focused with black cherry, spices and stems, leading to a finish with bright, tart red fruit. The texture was smooth yet with a stern acidic backbone, which detracted slightly from my overall impression of the wine.
Light bodied and in color. Soft and round mouth feel. Strawberry beginnings with a slightly unbalanced acidity that mellows as the taste progresses. Slight cherry finish. Decent value.
1st New Zealand Pinot I've tried, and it was very enjoyable. Very light on its feet, with cherry, raspberry, strawberries and a green floral element. Lively acidity balances the fruit very well. Not a whole lot on the finish, but a pleasant surprise on the whole.
Very good pinot for the money. Transparent purple color with a light body, silky mouth feel. Hints of cherries on the nose with an equal taste of red berries. Nicely balanced acidity with a subtle but pleasant finish. Great if you want a red for seafood or chicken.
A savoury nose leads into savoury cherry fruit in the mouth, well balanced. There's a hint of freshness to lighten up that savouriness and the whole sensation is silky smooth. It ends with good length making this great value for the £7.59 I paid for it at Waitrose in the UK.

Finding a great value Pinot Noir can be challenging. You’ve probably heard how difficult Pinot Noir is to cultivate, requiring some hands in the vineyard to do it well, which often translates to big bucks on the consumer’s end. Inexpensive Pinot Noir, even when drinkable, often lacks varietal identity (“this has notes of… red wine”). The Brancott 2009 Pinot Noir, however, is both delicious and distinctly Pinot. The aromas of pomegranate, tart cherry, baking spice, and a subtle umami nuance have depth and persistence. Light and refreshing, not thin and washed-out, this delivers incredible flavor for the money.

Light in body, with a bright garnet hue. Bursting with cherry and ripe strawberry fruits, with gentle spice and silky tannins.
Supple, with raspberry, green tea and wild strawberry flavors underscored by vanilla oak- and herb-tinged tannins. Drink now.
Racy black plum and cherry flavors are found in this dependable Pinot Noir. The fine tannins and savory quality of this wine make it an ideal match for herb-crusted salmon or roast pork.
Montana (sold as Brancott here in the U.S.) has been trying to make good Pinot at a good price for years, and they seem to be getting closer to their goal. The 2007 South Island Pinot blends fruit from Waipara and Marlborough into a soft, round, cuddly whole, redolent of root beer and beet root and ending with a flourish of tart cherries. Drink now.
