Brancott Estate Sauvignon Blanc B 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

Brancott B Marlborough Sauvignon BlancWhite peach and lime aromas with an underlying green olive dominate the nose. The palate is flavorsome and shows a rich concentration of pure Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc characters. The fresh grapefruit and peach notes are complemented by an oily texture and tantalising minerality, held together by a crisp acidity that leads to a lingering finish.

Probably the most grapefruity Sauvignon Blanc I have ever tasted. That is not good/bad, just different.

Tangy lime and grapefruit flavors are complimented by a clean, crisp acidity and accented with plenty of mineral and herb details. Drink now.

Pale straw. Pungent aromas of grapefruit pith, fresh herbs and pepper. Sweet, round and spicy, with varietally typical herbaceous and peppery elements enlivening the pineapple fruit. Fairly dense and tactile for a sauvignon in this price range, conveying a solid impression of extract.

Brancott sets the style for clean, oceanic Marlborough sauvignon with this mouthwatering wine. Thereandrsquo;s a touch of flint in the aroma, bright passionfruit flavors and fresh acidity to balance it. Delicious with a plate of fried clams.

A spicy and pungent herbal, almost peppery, note gives way to crisp lemon, lime and white grapefruit flavors, with zingy acidity. Distinctive and very refreshing. Drink now.

Pungent and nettle-like upfront, but those leafy elements are balanced by bright grapefruity flavors on the palate. Itrsquo;s medium in body and fresh, clean and appealing on the finish. Hard to do better at the price.

Tasting Notes:

The wine is pale straw in color with green highlights. Aromas of rock melon, lemongrass and ripe gooseberry dominate with top notes ranging from tropical grapefruit to sweet capsicum adding interest to the nose. This wine displays hints of pungency in conjunction with its full fruit intensity. Overall, this is a well-balanced wine showing palate weight, sweet fruit flavors and the crisp, expressive acidity associated with this style.
