Brancaia Tre 2015

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon Softly twiggy and tea like on the nose with gentle undercurrents of oak spice adding some support and sweetness to the red cherry and raspberry aromas. Fairly light bodied in the mouth, this blends good acidity and slightly austere yet modest tannins with a slightly herbal shaded core of red fruit. A touch indistinct perhaps, this gains definition on the backend where fine dry red and black fruit flavors begin to emerge along with a hint of licorice. Dry and a bit short on the finish, this nonetheless invites another sip. A bit understated and with just a shade of elegance to the bright cherry fruit on the finish. This would be lovely with simply grilled lamb chops. 88pts

Takes a good long decant to really evolve. Acidity and tannins smooth out after more than a few hours. This can lay down for a few years but with a lot of air drinks well now. Very food friendly.

Smoke and dark cherry in the nose. Tobacco, dark cherry and smoke in the flavors. Silky and smooth with medium finish.

Medium ruby in the glass. The wine centers around traditional flavors of leather, sandalwood, and cherry. Good weight and balance.

The basis for this wine, are the grapes from our three estates: Brancaia (Castellina), Poppi (Radda) and Brancaia in Maremma (Grosseto). The wine ages 12 months in French tonneaux.

The 2010 Tre is laced with dark red berries, flowers, licorice and a hint of smoke. This is a decidedly medium-bodied wine built on length and energy rather than the richness for which Maremma generally is known. Floral notes reappear on the finish, adding lift and a sense of harmony. The 2010 is 80% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Anticipated maturity: 2012–2015.

Elegante, fruchtige Nase, Amarenakirschen, Zwetschgen sowie Kaffeenoten. Am Gaumen wiederum elegant, saftig und ausgewogen. Ein garantiertes Trinkvergnügen.

Bright and juicy, offering cherry, raspberry and floral flavors. Balanced on an elegant profile, with a hint of licorice on the finish. Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2013 through 2018.

Deep ruby. Dark berry and cassis on the nose, with complicating notes of anise, vanillin oak and violet. Sappy, open-knit dark fruit flavors show nice clarity and lift, with polished, smooth tannins adding shape to the long, sweet finish. This easygoing, fruit-driven wine is already drinking well.
