Revealing aromas and flavors reminiscent of boiled peanuts, a specialty found in Georgia, the 2002 Chardonnay is a lush, satin-textured wine. It has appealing breadth to its fresh, lively, light to medium-bodied personality. Drink this good value over the next 2 years.
More on the flinty, elegant side, but with hints of apple and fig as well. Nice cut on the finish. This might flesh out a touch more in the coming months. From one of South Africa's value producers. Drink now through 2003.
A well made South African Chardonnay offering lively pear, melon and pineapple. Plenty of focused citrus and tropical fruit.
Elegant, with honeysuckle, white peach and white watermelon flavors, and a touch of crisp green apple on the finish. Really holds your interest. Drink now.
Rich, with pear, fig and hazelnut notes that stay elegant and stylish. Ripe, juicy finish. Drink now through 2002.
The perfect antidote to flashy, heavily wooded Chardonnays, this unoaked bottling retains its pure fruit character. Crisp and clean, it dances on the palate with refreshing flavors of apple, pear, citrus, and melon accented with hints of mineral and spice. The grapes were hand picked, destemmed, and crushed, and the free run juice was settled overnight before undergoing a cool, controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks. For additional richness and complexity, it was aged on a small portion of the lees of the 2008 Rustenberg Chardonnay for several months, with regular batonnage. The wine was racked and stabilized before bottling.
