93 points. The nose reveals tons of rich, spicy tones, with an appealing caramel quality. It’s very full and there is an interesting graham cracker and spice cabinet theme running through it. A little deeper investigation shows some raisin, pomegranate, asphalt, and rosewood. This wine is sweet, rich, full, and silky smooth. It explodes with raspberries and violets, with a slightly roasted tone and a bit of brown butter. There are complex notes of panna cotta, coffee beans, lavender, and caramel, with a finish almost like clean linen. This wine is just awesome. It’s got such great texture and complexity, it’s like silk in Technicolor. Just amazing and absolutely worth trying. Yummy, ripe blackberry and chocolate flavors along with some lush toast and spice notes. Solid grip from start to finish, despite the modern polish. Very solid. From Paul Hobbs, with fruit sourced from the Marchiori vineyard, same as the Vintilde;a Cobos. Drink now through 2004.
From Paul Hobbs comes this ldquo;secondrdquo; wine to his Vintilde;a Cobos Malbec, which scored 92 points. The fruit comes for the same Marchiori Vineyard. Vineyard blocks are vinified separately, and then a barrel selection in made. This is the debut of Bramare. Yummy, ripe blackberry and chocolate flavors, with some lush toast and spice notes. Solid grip start to finish despite the modern polish. Very solid. Drink now through 2004.
The little brother of Cobos; this wine is filled with tobacco, cedar and milk chocolate aromas and all the plum, berry, coffee and licorice flavors one might expect from excellent Malbec. The finish is tight but smooth, with a fine underlay of vanilla oak. This wine has perfect balance; itrsquo;s properly acidic yet rich, with freshness and weight but no syrupy qualities.
A polished red, offering a ripe mix of black and red berries that are tightly framed by nuances of violet, flint and baking spices, as the fruit pushes its way through grippy tannins on the finish. Drink now through 2014.
The Bramare "Marchiori Vineyard" wines are from 100% estate grown fruit located in Lujan de Cuyo. The 2006 Bramare Malbec "Marchiori Vineyard", tasted from a barrel sample (the wine should be bottled by the time subscribers are reading this note), is... Robert Parker. A Malbec wine from Mendoza in Argentina. 2006 Hobbs, Paul Malbec Bramare Machiori Vineyard 750ml
