User Reviews for Boutari Moschofilero Mantinia
Add your reviewLight color. May have been a bad bottle. Bit off balanced with flabby midpalate. Really did not like it. Tasted like cheap wine at a chinese restaurant.
First tasted this wine at an event hosted by Wines of Greece in Manhattan where I got to sample over 40 fine Greek wines. Lucky for me, the 2007 Boutari Moschofilero is pretty widely available in my neck of the woods in New Jersey, so I get to enjoy it often. Think of this wine as a Pinot Grigio / Sauvignon Blanc but with tons of body and flavor. It's light enough to be enjoyed all Summer long, but offers enough body and richness to pair with spicy foods during the cooler months. I find lots of juicy lemons with ripe honeyed melons and floral undertones with some nice acidity. At a recent dinner party, I paired it with grilled octopus and Greek yogurt-marinated chicken kabobs and it was super. At around $15 a bottle, this Greek wine from the Peloponnesos region is a great buy and value.

Floral and alluring with a bright lemon spin, the aromas of this Moschofilero are both feminine and crisp. On the palate, the wine has lushness, with orange blossom, melon, citrus flavors delivered in creamy wave. Overall, a pretty wine with an elegant flair.
Very bright and juicy, with pink grapefruit and glazed citrus flavors. Finishes with light spicy notes and hints of peach. Drink now.
There's plenty of ruby grapefruit and mineral flavors in this fresh, crisp white, which offers touches of tropical fruit on the juicy finish. Drink now.
An exuberant nose of fresh lemon, citrus and a touch of pear gives this friendly white a spirited start. On the palate, the wine offers great acidity, a clean citrus character and a dry, refreshing finish. An excellent warm weather and seafood wine.
The 2007 Moschofilero is from vines 15-35 years old. It is light and bright, with only 11% alcohol, delightfully fruity and quite appealing, with a nice, flavorful finish. This is hardly a complex wine, but I found it rather hard to resist. It was one of my favorites from this variety in this report, and I've seen street prices on it as low as $10.00, which makes it a pretty nice deal. Drink it fresh and young for best results. It may seem simpler with every passing year even if it holds longer. Drink now-2010.
A dancing nose of lemon and white flowers leads this fun, refreshing white from Greece. On the palate, clean and crisp citrus flavors and good acidity make it an ideal cohort for grilled seafood and salads. Versatile and a great go-to white.
Winemaker's Notes:
Brilliant, crystal-clear, white yellow color with green tints. A fresh wine with intense floral and fruity bouquet dominated by aromas of white rose, melon and citrus. A well-balanced fresh wine, with intense flavor and long aromatic aftertaste (orange blossom, grapefruit).
